Precious and John from The Philippines

Precious and John both travelled to the UK from the Philippians and are now based in our homes in Northern Ireland.

Precious says: “At first I was nervous but the interviewers were so friendly and welcoming. Now I’m here in Northern Ireland, the people are so accommodating, especially at the home and B&B where I am staying. I regularly keep in touch with my parents and daughter online through Skype.”

John says: “Most of our experience back at home in the Philippines is hospital based, so I thought why not give working in a care home a try as it’s something new, with a different culture and environment to experience as well as a new side of nursing.

I found the interview process to be straightforward and the interviewers were so friendly. Being with Four Seasons is fun and it’s a privilege to be part of someone’s life, especially at the end. The home is like one big family.

The support system from Four Seasons is so wonderful. We arrived as a group of 5 which helped, so as well as your Philippian community, you’ve got your colleagues and management for support too, and the locals are so lovely and welcoming.”

Muri from South Africa

Muri has been a nurse for over 24 years, starting at age 19 in South Africa before moving to the UK. She has worked in the care home industry for four years and especially enjoys elderly care. Managed a home of 177 bed. Passionate about nursing, there is no other job more satisfying than nursing or carigs

Muri says: “I love working with the elderly and in a care home setting because you can get so close to residents and touch their life, hold their hand or give them a hug and make them feel better. You can go to bed at night knowing you’ve done so much for someone. It’s the end stage of their life and a journey that you can walk with the resident and their families and make a real difference.”

Oana from Romania

Oana moved from Romania to the UK with her starting as a Senior Care Assistant before qualifying as a Nurse.

Oana says: “My career started here in the UK as a Senior Care Assistant for 3 months until I finally got my PIN number. Things here in the UK are not the same as in our country, it’s a different system, there are different laws and responsibilities towards your residents or patients so you just need to follow these regulations and abide to the NMC code.

Four Seasons gave me lots of support, I had quite a generous relocation pack and when I came over I just started the job and everything came through step by step, and I had lots of support from my Home Managers.

My colleagues are fantastic we get along very well, we work as a team – actually on my unit we’re like family. I can’t imagine working someplace else, I feel like I’ve been doing this forever really.

Basically all my life I was in touch with elderly, and I love it. I love taking care of them and helping the ones who need, especially the ones with dementia and with learning disabilities. I like to be part of their life and make a difference.”

Radu from Romania

Radu, who is originally from Romania, moved to the UK to work in elderly care. Here he shares his experience.

Radu says: “It was always a wish of mine since I was a small child to live in the UK. I chose to be a Nurse in elderly care because I grew up with my grandma and I’ve always felt very close to her, I just felt a connection with the elderly and I thought I’d develop on this.

Adapting to living in the UK was overwhelming at first but I’ve had lots of support including a Nurse mentor. Four Seasons came across as very caring and the person-centred care was the most attractive thing to me.

The relocation process went really well because Four Seasons supported me with everything. They bought my plane ticket, helped me with the hotel and finding a house to rent. It all went very smoothly and everyone’s very friendly, I’d recommend Four Seasons Health Care to anyone who wants to be a Nurse and who likes being close to the residents.”
