Callum's story

“Four Seasons has provided me with unlimited support throughout my career and studies”

From call centre handler to a career in care, Callum has worked his way up at Four Seasons, even writing an article for our well-regarded internal Care Home Nursing Journal (CNJ) around the importance of pressure care.

Callum says:

“I first began my career in care after leaving a job in a call centre for a more rewarding role. I started as a Care Assistant in Regents View for a year and a half before progressing on to Senior Care Assistant.

After a few months I successfully applied to the CHAP programme which appealed to me as it offers a doorway to becoming a nurse. The application process was fairly simple and straight forward. The training is exciting as it allows you to develop clinical skills and understand them.

After qualifying, I worked fulltime as a CHAP for a year before taking on my Adult Nursing Degree at Sunderland University. I still work at Regents View as a CHAP as it offers the flexibility to work and study at the same time.

My favourite part of being a CHAP is making a difference to resident’s lives. I enjoy that every day is different so it gives an opportunity to enjoy a career without anything becoming monotonous.

Four Seasons has provided me with unlimited support throughout my career and studies, including from the Home Manager, all qualified nurses, Regional Manager, CHAP Leads and from the Care Assistants.

I would encourage anyone to apply to the CHAP role as it makes a massive difference to residents’ lives – my top tip would be to double check everything!”
