As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will support the Nurse in observing and reporting clients’ mental health presentation on a daily basis. You will maintain and promote the clients’ independence through the implementation of the Recovery Star.

So as a Mental Health Support Worker, what do you need to do to make this happen.

  • Help the clients to live independently by teaching life skills such as cooking,cleaning,shopping,taking public transport, budgeting.
  • Be involved in the assessment, development and implementation of the Recovery Star for the clients.
  • Recognise changing mental health conditions and report appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the clients,families,members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Receive MAPA training, Mental Health Conditions training and Recovery Star training in order to have the necessary skills to support the clients
  • A full induction will be provided.
  • Promote the unit in a professional manner, by becoming actively involved in raising awareness of the unit within the local community.

  • Show resilience and an ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Be a good listener, showing patience, compassion, empathy and understanding.
  • Hold a minimum of NVQ level 2 health & social care or equivalent or be working towards it.
