Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Information Governance Manager and the Data Protection Officer in ensuring that the organisation meets its statutory and regulatory obligations with regards to data protection and information governance and that relevant policies are properly enacted throughout the business.
  • Assist with co-ordinating compliance with the requirements of the Information Governance Toolkit and to help populate and complete the annual submission.
  • Support the Information Governance Manager in ensuring that appropriate registrations are maintained with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
  • Provide advice to homes and central departments on best practice with regards to archiving and records management.
  • Support the Information Governance Manager in implementing the requirements of GDPR and progressing the organisational action plan in this area.
  • Provide advice and support on the use and completion of data protection/privacy impact assessments (DPIAs/PIAs).
  • Monitor data breach information and ensure that incidents are appropriately followed up, escalated, investigated and reported where required.
  • Provide advice to homes and central departments on responding to subject access requests and monitor whether appropriate and compliant processes are being followed.
  • Actively monitor the Data Protection Officer mailbox.       Respond to, and provide advice on, ad hoc queries on information governance and data protection issues.
  • Monitor various sources of data protection information, including quality assurance audits and e-learning compliance.
  • Assist the Information Governance Manager in providing reports to key governance committees on Information Governance activity and compliance across the organisation.
  • Prepare letters for key stakeholders where required, including the Information Commissioner’s Office.
  • Correspond, either by telephone or in writing, with the Information Commissioner’s Office on the Data Protection Officer’s behalf when required.
  • Provide administrative support where required.
  • Support the Information Governance Manager and Head of Assurance/Data Protection Officer in meeting demands of the business.

  • Previous experience in an information governance/data protection role.
  • Experience of communicating information governance obligations and requirements with senior stakeholders. 
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GDPR requirements.
  • Experience of working in the health or care sectors.

 Other requirements

  • Able and prepared to work outside normal office hours where required.
