Four Seasons Health Care are looking for a Care Quality Lead, also known as the Regional Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP) Lead, to support with the selection of suitable Care Home Assistant Practitioners.

This role reflects the changing care needs of residents and will support our most promising Care Assistants with the opportunity to develop their skills and career whilst providing support to Registered Nurse(s) to meet a range of clinical needs.

The role is an enhanced Care Assistant role that will, after a period of extra training and competency assessment, provide clinical interventions to enhance the resident experience and the level of care residents receive under supervision of a registered nurse. Historically these clinical interventions would have been carried out by a registered nurse.

As the Regional CHAP Lead you will be responsible for the delivery of regional Care Practitioner training and also support the recruitment of Care Home Assistant Practitioners.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across the Four Season Health Care portfolio. This will include travel across the relevant region and on occasions across the United Kingdom to both regional hubs and care homes. Ideally the candidate will be based around Nottingham, the Midlands or the Bristol area

Job Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse
  • Working knowledge of Health and Social Care regulations
  • Care Quality Training experience
  • Working knowledge of IT Systems -Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook

Desirable Criteria

  • Teaching Qualification
  • BSc Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Experience of Audit within Health and Social Care industry. Improving Care Quality

Key roles and responsibilities

Support the Selection of Suitable CHAPs/CHAP Homes

  • Working within guidance, support Regional Managers and Commercial Accountants to determine homes that could/ should support a CHAP role, both commercially and clinically and highlight to the CHAP Programme Manager
  • Attend Home Managers and Regional Manager Meetings on a regular basis to understand the operational needs of the services and promote the CHAP role

 Support CHAP Recruitment

  • Work within guidance to support Home Managers and Recruitment Teams to build and maintain a pipeline for CHAPs entering the programme

 Regional Responsibility for the Delivery of CHAP Training to CHAPs and CHAP Mentors

  • Contribute to the creating/ improving resources needed for CHAPs to access and complete the programme.
  • To support CHAPs, CHAP Facilitators, Mentors and Home Managers, where issues are identified affecting the successful completion of the CHAP programme by implementing Rapid Improvement Plans where necessary
  • To deliver Mentorship Training to Registered Nurses in line with corporate standards
  • To ensure accurate training records are maintained on CHAP App

Support the Utilisation of Competent CHAPs

  • To work with Registered Care Home Managers, Mentors and CHAPs to understand the importance of following the guidance set and maintaining the CHAP Brand
  • Monitor CHAP annual competency assessments, following up where necessary to ensure CHAP annual competencies are assessed.
  • To keep accurate records on CHAP App for each Qualified CHAP
