An exciting new career opportunity for experienced carers

The role of Care Home Assistant Practitioner – or CHAP – is an important position within our care homes. It allows people with existing supervisory experience with an NVQ level 3 in Health and Social care within a care environment to take on a higher level of responsibility and reward.

Our CHAPs combine their caring activities with an extended range of clinical skills, such as administering medication and delivering minor wound care. CHAPs always have the support of the Registered Nurses in our homes.

We’ll support you every step of the way

Four Seasons offers the most effective CHAPs training course in our industry – an intensive programme of learning, most of it hands-on in a busy care home environment.

At every stage you’ll be supported and mentored by a Registered Nurse so that you quickly develop not only new clinical skills but also the confidence to use those skills in a leadership role.

Once successfully completed, the course also provides a CHAP certificate of qualification.

Open up new career opportunities

A CHAP qualification with Four Seasons allows dedicated and ambitious carers to step up to new challenges and higher levels of work satisfaction, providing special resident experiences every day while also enjoying higher rates of pay and other rewards.

You’ll also enjoy professional recognition which can open up future pathways into Nursing or Home Management.

The kind of person we’re looking for

You’ll have a minimum 12 months’ carer experience, ideally in a supervisory position, in an adult care home or possibly within the NHS – with at least an NVQ 2 in Health and Social care and working towards Level 3.

Very importantly you’ll be keen to develop your career as a carer. You’ll also be driven and not afraid of a challenge, with a good communication style that will allow you to lead other team members and work effectively alongside our nurses.

You'll find Chasedale Care Home in Blyth, Northumberland. Here we provide high-quality residential and nursing care for people with dementia, including in a unit for male residents only.

We are especially trained in caring for those living with dementia. Our unique approach is based on understanding dementia form the resident’s perspective, enabling us to deliver Special Resident Experiences and consistently good care everywhere.

We also offer care to people who are physically frail.

People can move from one unit to another as their dependency levels change. Some individuals stay with us long term, others for shorter periods.

We have gardens and other communal areas where those living here like to sit out on sunny days.

At Chasedale Care Home, residents are considered part of the family. We put their health and happiness at the heart of everything we do, and our dedicated team of nurses and carers actively encourage residents to take part in all decisions - contributing to everything from the way their rooms look to the therapies they receive.
