Gilmerton Care Centre are looking for a Functional Rehabilitation Assistant to work under the direction of the Lead Therapist to deliver assessment related activities of daily living (ADL such as dressing, undressing, bathing, kitchen task, budgeting, social integration etc). These maybe delivered independently or with qualified staff.

Other duties include:

  • To work as an integral member of the Rehabilitation Service providing effective support to Physiotherapist, Physiotherapy assistant, Nurses, carers and any other team members.
  • To work with service-user undertaking therapy/rehabilitation programmes to support and encourage them to achieve their optimum level of independence and quality of life, as directed by Lead Therapist.
  • To work with service-users in a range of locations, including day centre, headways, and the community with overall supervision from rehabilitation professionals.
  • To organise social activities for service-users and embrace person-centre approach and social inclusion.
  • To assist the Lead Therapist in the assessment and observation of service users.
  • To work and liaise as required with the multi-disciplinary team, including attendance at client-related meetings.
  • Maintain records and report observations of clients’ progress and performance verbally and in writing.
  • To ensure that all clinical contact carried out incorporates risk assessment and appropriate management of risk.
  • To participate in the development of evidence based delivery of therapeutic interventions, as directed by qualified staff members.

Job Requirements

In order to be considered for the role, we are looking for somebody with:

  • A minimum of 12months experience of working in a care home environment
  • A driving licence 
  • Strong IT Skills

This is a full time role, 37.5 hours a week and the hourly rate is £10.51 p/h.
